Hot on the heels of England’s cricketing success another important number has been hit….a ‘Bakers dozen’ in years in the life of Firewise Business Solutions…things are not over yet.

We are always keen to improve the level of service we provide and the feedback our clients demonstrates that we are still providing good value for money. A recent check of providers of training showed that our charges were consistently lower than most of our competitors (but dearer than some) BUT the level of training was rated consistently higher.

Businesses warned over changes to Fire & Rescue Services (FRS) attendance policies…..
These are tough times for the FRS and many are changing their policies in relation to attending automatic fire alarms and fire cover arrangement. Recent surveys in the Fire Industry indicate that most employers had not adapted their fire risk assessments to reflect the changing economic climate and the way the FRS now operate. This in a time when employers admit to procuring fire safety services at the lowest cost, a third of staff admit to not having proper fire training, AND fire losses to UK PLC are currently on the increase (Insurers are paying out approx £4M per day) …there must be a connection!

Epsom College Bespoke Training Requirement

Once again the Firewise Crew have come up trumps and are able to provide a training package that many other providers just cannot do. Two sessions have been planned that will be very specific to the needs of the Epsom College Chemistry based Teachers/Tech staff.

A list of all the ‘nasties’ have been provided including hydrogen fires, reactive metals and flams such as ethanol, plus of course the renowned bunsen burner.

all in a days work eh!!

Firstly, on behalf of the Firewise Crew may I wish you a very happy Christmas and New Year;

what would most people do, if, having conducted a Fire Risk Assessment and delivered a series of fire safety training sessions, they received the following missive (as I did this week) ONE DAY before the ‘mop-up’ session? Most I suspect would be searching frantically for their PI Insurance!!!

Well, when I arrived I found that they were still in business despite the fire destroying a key part of the company’s production process. They were, to my surprise, “chuffed as nuts” because the Fire marshals had responded exactly according to plan. The senior fire officer had complemented the staff on their prompt action and for the information available to the responding crews on their arrival. As he said, “it made all the difference” and enabled the crews to deal with the fire situation quickly and effectively.

I went away “chuffed as nuts” too knowing that my previous operational experience had not been wasted and as I say “Needing a good fire trainer is like me needing a man with a parachute?
why go for the cheapest and inexperienced option!”
